Our architectural design process begins with a design consultation where we get to know each other, identify your goals, needs, wants, wishes, and budget; define your priorities and design style; and answer any questions you may have. Whether this planning phase takes place around the dinner table in a single five-hour power session or extends over the course of weeks or months depends on your availability and the amount of time you can dedicate to this interior design effort. 

It is often said: the more time spent in planning, the less time spent in rework.

Architectural Design

The process of architectural design begins on paper as an iterative journey to establish the spaces you desire in your home and the relationships those spaces will have with one another as you inhabit them. This exercise culminates in a preliminary floor plan for your review and revision. Once the footprint of the home has stabilized, we will transfer our plans into a computer-aided blueprint design, develop exterior views, and continue making adjustments until we are satisfied with the outcome and have a final reference blueprint. Throughout this process, we will conduct design consultations and collaborate with engineers as needed to ensure our plans conform to or exceed universal and local building code standards while maintaining structural integrity.

Interior Design

Interior design can either follow the architectural design or serve as the initial step in the design phase of your project. We will begin with one of several 'jumping off points'. Based on your design style and aesthetic, we may first define a mood or color palette. Do you have a favorite piece of art you wish to showcase? Does your home feature something unique that we wish to embrace or diminish?

Once we've established this key element of your interior design, we will select the necessary materials in a logical sequence based on the project scope.

Whether you have a builder in mind or would like to meet with our partner General Contractors for a design consultation, we will support your documentation requests and questions as you enter into a construction contract and finalize any funding requirements related to your architectural design and interior design choices.

As the talented trades and craftspeople you’ve hired break ground, swing a sledgehammer, or pry open the first gallon of paint, RP Design Studio is still on the job to ensure your vision is executed properly.
